Frequently Asked Questions

How long does grooming generally take?

That depends on the size of your pet. For the basic grooming package (bath, nails, ears, and brushing) it generally takes small dogs 1 1/2 to 2 hours and bigger dogs with short hair (like a Boxer) 2 hours and bigger dogs with longer hair (Huskies, Bernese Mountain Dogs) 3-4 hours. Keep in mind no two animals are the same. Behavioral or health issues can make the grooming process take longer. Cats take around 3 hours due to being particular about cage and hand drying.

How will I know how good my pet was during their appointment?

After each grooming appointment, our groomer will give you a Pawgress report detailing how amazing your pet did during their stay with us at the spa. This report will also address things such as coat, skin, teeth, and ears. If anything needs to be addressed (like any sores, bumps, lumps) that our groomer sees, she will let you know so that you can be on top of the well-being of your pet. You also go home with a valued customer card that provides you with 20% off of merchandise in our grooming shop and a doggy bag of treats as a reward for your pet doing so well! If you would like to make another appointment in advance, this report also has that information written on the back as well.

How do you handle matted pets?

Dealing with matted pets can be a complex issue. Dematting is uncomfortable for your pet and the comfort and safety of your pet always comes first. Every case may vary in terms of severity of matting. When deciding to shave your pet down, make sure to talk to our groomer first to find a solution that works best for you and your pet.

Can I stay with my pet once I drop them off?

Yes, of course you can stay! You’re not allowed back in the grooming area for safety reasons, but we do have a seating/lobby area complete with a TV and refreshments available.

Do you kennel pets?

For the safety of your pets so that they are not freely running about the grooming shop, we kennel your pet shortly until we get to them. If your dog is kennel-aggressive, other options are available to you.

How do you dry pets?

After bathing the animals, we use a hand dryer or a towel to get them mostly dry. From there, they are kenneled in a well-ventilated room. We utilize a cage dryer on the lowest setting for the minimal amount of time with frequent wellness checks.

Do you groom cats?

Yes we do! Your kitty is welcome any time.

Do you groom difficult animals?

Yes we do. Our groomer has 12 years of grooming experience and has extensive experience with behavioral issues with animals.

I’m not sure how to groom my dog/cat in between grooming appointments. What should I do?

Consult with our groomer after your appointment and she will direct you on the correct products to use/purchase and the best way to maintain the upkeep of your pet’s groom until your next grooming appointment.

I want to learn more about the de-shed package. What’s that all about?

Your pet’s shedding will be reduced by 50% – 80% by using an Omega 3 enriched Deshedding Shampoo and Deshedding Conditioner, Blueberry Facial, Coat Blow Out and up to 30 minutes of Brushing.

Can I modify grooming packages or swap out products that I want?

Of course you can! But please keep in mind that this can make grooming packages more expensive if you, for example, want a mud bath in place of medicated shampoo because a mud bath sits on your pet’s skin for 15 minutes to work its magic to moisturize your pet’s skin.
